Posted: Aug 16, 2005 09:10:23 Hi, I have purchased a Samsung 60GB HDD and a metal case for it. I have put the HDD in the metal case and when I connected it to my laptop (using USB port), it does not detect the external drive. I get a conflict symbol in the USB window. I use Win2000 Professional and it is supposed to detect the driver automatically. The Metal case came with a driver CD but does not contain any driver for Win2K. Can anyone help me how to make this work? Thanks in advance mohandeepak66 |

Posted: Aug 18, 2005 15:25:48 Hi, Thanks for your reply. My Problem is that this disk is not recognised as a drive in Disk Management. So there is no way I can format that. When I connect the HDD to my laptop it is shown as an unknown USB device. I tried to install it, but the system recognises usb.inf as the driver and when it installs the driver, it shows an error! |

Posted: Aug 18, 2005 15:29:47 Hi, the drive itself should be able to connect directly to an IDE port and you can format it there. It sounds like there may be an issue with the enclosure case itself. You will need to isolate if the enclosure case is defective or the hard drive is defective. If you have parts around, you can try a different hard drive and/or enclosure. This way, you can isolate where the point of failure is occurring. If it is the enclosure, you hard drive may be fine but it will not recognize in the defective case. |

Posted: Aug 31, 2005 11:11:32 Hi, I got another enclosure for my HDD but the problem continues. While installing the device my machine was checking for a file "win32filex.inf" or somthing similar for the driver. It could not be located on my PC. I tried to lcoate it on Windows site, but could not find it. Any help? |
