Posted: Sep 14, 2004 17:06:08 I have a SATA hdd with the following specs: > 160GB Capacity > SATA/150 > 7200RPM > 8MB 4X Cache Buffer > Seagate Part Number ST3160023AS My question is in 2 parts: would the hdd fit your case? and would your case be compatable with a macintosh computer using the firewire connection? |

Posted: Sep 18, 2004 11:09:33 I'm currently searching for an external casing for a SATA hard disk. I am thinking of buying a SATA hard disk, put it into a casing and then connect it to my laptop. Kind of like an external hard disk. Is this the casing i'm looking for? and are you selling the casing or the casing+SATA hard disk? |

Posted: Sep 18, 2004 11:15:27 The difference is that the triple combo case will fit an internal IDE hard disk. The three outs for that case is SATA, FireWire, and USB. The one I recommended to you requires a SATA hard drive. It has one SATA output. As I understand your requirements, you want an external enclosure that can fit an internal SATA hard disk with a SATA (Serial ATA) output. Personally, I would go for the triple combo because the various outputs will provide more flexibility if you want to move your data around. |

Posted: Oct 4, 2004 01:13:50 I brought a 3.5 inch SATA HDD last Sat. I brought it because I want to link it as an external HDD to my notebook via USB. Hence I need to buy a external case for it as well. Is there an external HDD case available in market which allow me to convert SATA to USB?? Thanks a lot. |

Posted: Oct 4, 2004 13:04:08 Hi, there may be a case like you want internal SATA to external USB case. Unfortunately, I am not aware of any. You are not the first to ask and am surprised there is not a manufacturer to meet the need. We have some Serial ATA to IDE converters (and vice versa) here: http://tekgems.com/Products/controllers-adapter-i-o-card.htm But these are designed for internal desktops. |
