Posted: Dec 28, 2002 14:14:06 Bought the referenced tablet from you for a gift. Unfortunately my daughter cannot install the tablet since she uses the XP operating system. Do you have access to driver that might support this tablet in XP? The Websites listed in the operations manual are not operational. Any suggestions? Thanks Tim |

Posted: Mar 9, 2003 23:50:57 I'm having the same problem...I've installed the program and installed the driver it prompted me to, and tried it with the USB cable, and the other, but I still can't use my graphics tablet. I have Windows 98. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you... Dawn |

Posted: Mar 10, 2003 04:03:31 · Edited by: tekgems Hi Dawn, we would need some more information to go one. Are you using the drawing software JamStudio provides or are you using a program like PhotoShop? Users have reported success with PhotoShop and other graphics programs, but did require some tweaking. The JamStudio tablet is not professional grade like a Wacom, but some people have been successful with it. |

Posted: Mar 28, 2003 12:40:48 I am using the JamStudio with PaintShopPro. On XP. It works fine with the driver I found here. The only complaint, is that the settings do not allow "Left click" I allows "Left click - double click" Which means, that it just double clicks the way your mouse does. It is not a regular left mouse button. So.. I press the left mouse button on my mouse and have disabled the button on the pen all together. To do that: Control Panel>JamStudio Sensitivity set to heavy and the mouse button option to OFF. That is the only way I can make it work. I agree. it is a toy.. and would do better to upgrade to a wacom. Billie Jo |

Posted: May 26, 2003 13:06:08 · Edited by: Admin Hi all, I brought home the Jam Studio Tablet yesterday for $ Can. 24.00 and found out it just a toy. The company made it went out business, it's website domain is up for sell and the tablet is only work with USB version 1. On my network, it only work on old P3-800 which is BX chipset on Main board, on Pentium 160 - Win 8=98SE it nerver work regardless what kind of connections, on other 2 computers ( P4, Athlon XP 2200) the control panel shows Human Device working properly, the tablet's light is lit but nothing show as a cursor. On the working one PC, the tablet is choppy, hard to use and nerver show up on Photoshop or any other photo editing program. You can download driver for Windows XP here: http://tekgems.com/dl/index.php?path=input-devices/ For those who manage to have it works, congratulation but right now for me it just a piece of scrap, I realized I just help to clear out a remain inventory from a warehouse, since there is no return as it's final sell. |

Mine is so sensitive that you can hold the pen an inch or so above the tablet and the screen cursor will move I'm really thinking hard about the problems you guys are having since they may well be mine in between one to six weeks...I was wonderring which programs you're using it with...photoshop, paintshop, and corel photopaint digital camera edition, all have options within the apps for changing the settings for your peripherals...also I was thinking that if you only upgraded from windows 98 you might be able to get it to work if you first install to win 98 with the original drivers then upgrade...like I said before I'm using windows 98...but I did try windows me...I had problems with older camera drivers...installed them to windows 98 first then upgraded the os and drivers and the camera worked fine after that...If you can afford a wacom now buy one...compusa has them in abundance...if not then your only choice is really to experiment with all your options...try anything and everything you can think of...even if it seems crazy...sometimes the most absurd ideas work the best in practice and the most logical ones don't work at all...you might even be able to get it to work with something as simple and stupid sounding as putting something like a plastic or rubber sheath of some sort over the tip of the pen to dull the sensitivity of the pen... Here's another idea...it may sound hokey and a bit off topic however the solution found may apply here...I purchased a second hand hewlitt packard scanner and couldn't get it to work(I needed a specific cable and the site said that an adapter just wouldn't work). So I checked around the various forums for hewlitt packard and someone said they had to remove the latest drivers then install all the drivers starting with the original windows 98 drivers up to xp...it seems that hewlitt packard had left some key data out of the xp drivers and that's why it didn't work...long(very long) story short, maybe kb left some important strings of data out of the latest drivers and you should try uninstalling the xp drivers(making sure the xp driver is saved to your hard disk of course) then installing the original drivers and then the xp drivers as well...:) keep the faith...since Murphy's Law allways seems to apply to computers there's no reason(other than buying a Wacom of course) to give up...frustrated just uninstall the drivers and tablet for a few days and think about your problem...trouble shooting's a pain...and that goes double for when we're troubleshooting less than perfect equipment...but it's worth it if only so you have good advice for the person you give or sell the tablet to once you get around to upgrading...by the way...check with craig'slist...I think there's one for every major city and it's surrounding areas...I live in San Francisco and there are alot of Mac Addicts here, but you may be able to find a used or even new Wacom for as little as $20.00. I finally got a Microtek Slimscan off of Craig'slist and it works great and came with everything the factory intended for it. Good Luck everyone by the way...the url for craig'slist is http://www.craigslist.org/ (type craig'slist into your search engine if you're having trouble finding your local list) For anyone who doesn't know because they're new to computers or just because nobody ever botherred to tell them...craig'slist is just an online database of sorts with items and service for sale by local individuals...they'll usually meet you somewhere if you're not comfortable with going to their house or having them come to yours...plus if you don't like the looks of something you can just say something like it's not what I was expecting and I'd rather not purchase it thanks anyway...as opposed to just being stuck with something you don't want. plus it's a good way to sell this tablet once you buy that Wacom you have your eye on |

Posted: Sep 3, 2003 14:48:22 I finally got my Jam Studio tablet installed with a working settings icon in the control panel. I probably had it working all the time, but just looking in the wrong place for the settings icon. XP's Control Panel differs somewhat from 98's. Unless you are in "Classic View" you may need to select "Other Control Panel Options" form the left-side menu to find your "Sketchboard Studio" icon. thboob |

Posted: Sep 11, 2003 20:18:27 Hi. I have windows XP and the drivers still don't work! And the pen, the little green light on the side always blinks, then when you move the cord alittle bit over to the side or put tape on it, it work. When I first bought it like that, that was the way that it was. I mean the people that made this tablet must have been on something, because my intructions on how to hook it up where all writin' wrong! I have had more problems with it then any other devise on my computer. I am considering to pruchas a wacom tablet, but they are really expenssive. I also could use in in photoshop, painterpro8.0, open canvas, oekaki, and paint. So that was one good thing. But still your prouduct is shit. It was broken in the first week that I used it. The question that I am asking is; Why does the little green light on the side blink all the time? And how can I stop that? |

Posted: Oct 16, 2003 13:38:09 Exactly, which installation file did you download? What did you try? It is very important when you install new software and drivers that you close out of all your applications and system tray programs. Please tell us exact steps you used to when attempting the install. |

Posted: Oct 17, 2003 09:28:00 Hi again. I am the guy that don't have original installations disk, but I have now, and I install the software, and drivers download, but don't function the table. In answer I have to tell that I download all the drivers in this site(ex: http://tekgems.com/dl/input-peripheral/jamstudio.zip) and I install correctly, but still not function. Nothing appears in the Control Panel to configurate (in Other Control Panel... nothing). At installation, none program was running. The steps are: I install the software in the CD (for Win98), shut down PC, and later, install drivers downloaded... but... nothing happend. I plug in the table in RS-232, and in PS/2. In RS-232 nothing happend, in PS/2 led is flashing but nothing more. Thanks for your suggestions. Gonzalo |

Posted: Nov 7, 2003 13:58:20 Simple Fix To Problem: Pen Too Sensitive I had this problem on XP using photoshop and was able to fix it by changing the brush mode to "normal" it had been on "linear burn" which performs some sort of multiplication to the co-ordinate and pressure values received from the tablet. Simple fix - works great now! |
|
|
Posted: Nov 7, 2003 14:19:46 [b]Too sensitive continued [\b] - The above may not be accurate. i\It seems that if I use my regular mouse for all navigation in photoshop (opening menus and windows) and only use the pen as a pen for drawing, then it works fine. If I use the pen as a mouse, the super sensitivity becomes an issue and I have to quit the photoshop application and start over. |

Posted: Nov 9, 2003 10:21:32 I had all the problems that everyone else seemed to with the XP drivers and the icon not showing up in the control panel. Someone posted that you need to go Start>Control Panel and then off to the left it says "other control panel options" your Jam Studio icon is in there, and then you can adjust the pressure sensitivity to suit you. Ty to whoever gave that piece of info, it worked for me and now my $30 cheap tablet works just fine :) |

Posted: Feb 13, 2004 14:22:41 · Edited by: Admin I first installed Jam Studio to my win xp laptop and had it running real quick. After unplugging it and then plugging it back in, it quit working. I ran the second install again and it was back to working fine again. It was my win 98 machine that gave me a headache. After messing with Jam Studio tablet a bit , I have a few recommendations... and this applied to both XP and 98. Run the install from the cd that comes with the Jam Studio. Plug the tablet in. Run the updated install for 95, 98, ME, 2000, and XP available from here: http://tekgems.com/dl/index.php?dir=.%2Finput-devices You *might* have to reboot again, or maybe not. But after doing this it should work and have the icon in the Control Panel for adjusting the sensitivity. Which brings me to the next point. As it is set, pressing down on the stylus is a left mouse click, pressing the button on the barrell is a right mouse click. Also, pressing down on the stylus will make it write. In the control panel settings for it you can adjust how hard or soft to push on the stylus to make it write or click. I am using the tablet with both Windows 98 and Windows XP now, no problem. Also, I am using Photoshop 6 with it just fine. |

Posted: Mar 3, 2004 19:32:24 It took some time, but after switching to "classic view" in control panel and turning off the button click, i've discovered that, while it takes some getting used to, my tablet works pretty well. And yes, I have XP. I have to press pretty hard and it's a bit like using one of those pens that you haveto hold a certain way to get the ink to run, but it works. So, there you go. 1. Instal the driver and the software. 2. Hook up your tablet. 3. open control panel and hit 'classic view' 4. click on sketchboard studio and adjust settings accordingly. I have gotten it to work in Painter 7 and in Photoshop 7, altho in photoshop the line is very light (which is no different from my drawing style so it doesn't bother me) Theonly difficulty that i have is it's a little hard to draw on the tablet because you have to watch the screen to see what you're doing, but if you, say, put a pencil skecth over the tablet so that you can transfer it to photshop or something to cg, it works really well. |

Posted: Mar 6, 2004 07:10:17 I figured out a workaround the dreaded limited mouse-click options in the SketchBoard Studio (Contol Panel settings) without having to resort to messing with your windows mouse settings. Go into your WINDOWS directory and loacte WINTAB.INI. Scroll down to the middle under the KIDBOARD section. You should see the Csr0SysBtns heading and change its first two values to 0 1 (the rest should be zeros anyway) and restart your computer. This should enable the normal left-button 'single' click option (as opposed to the Left button double-click & the backwards Right button-click options). If for whatever reason you need to adjust any SketchBoard Studio settings in your Control Panel then you will need to re-edit your Wintab.ini and restart your computer to make this option work again!!! BTW, there's another thread on this tablet here. |

Posted: Apr 6, 2004 14:35:22 I recently purchased a JamStudio tablet. It came with one C.D., It was blank with no label, from what I've read in other forums, That means it is a new one. The was no install program on the disc. I downloaded a driver off of the internet, but I still can't open the drawing program because there is none. I have a Mac. I hope you can help. |

Posted: Apr 13, 2004 19:05:16 Ok, I've been reading these and the other message, uhh forum4-76 i think it is..and I've tried d/l the XP driver, installing it, cold reboot, reinstalling it, changing the pressure settings. If I reboot my computer the tablet works for about 3 minutes, then stops. Then I have to do a cold reboot again to get it to work. I'm running XP Home on 1.1GHz AMD Duron Processor, 184k RAM, with 40G HD. Any help appreciated! |

Posted: Apr 30, 2004 12:22:44 Just a quick question, I was able to install the drivers (somewhat) successfully, in that my computer (running XP) recognizes the drawing tablet. My probelm is, that everytime I move the pen on top of the tablet my computer restarts itself, deleting all of my settings. This is getting really frustrating. I've tried re-installing the drivers 3 times but nothing seems to fix my probelm. Any advise would be appriciated. Thanks, Leslie. |

Posted: May 11, 2004 18:42:07 I have had my tablet for 3 years, worked good in Win98SE, got a new computer(XP Home), did a search for drivers, found this site. :-D I downloaded the drivers, installed them, system auto rebooted once, installed the drivers again. Everything works good except for sensitivity. As suggested, went to the Control Panel, hmm, couldnt see the icon, switched the control panel to Classic view, and BAM, there it is. Adjusted the sensitivity too "heavy", set barrel button to "left mouse double click" and everything works fine. I am using Photoshop for my graphics program, system specs are 64mb VC, 512mb PC2700, 160gb HD, Win XP Home with all updates. Hope this helps someone out, I know some of the stuff already posted helped me out. |

Posted: May 11, 2004 18:48:50 The blinking green light occurse when the tablet isnt getting a signal from the pen via the wire plugged in on the bottom. I would check that connection first. If that doesnt seem to rememdy it, I really dont know what to tell you except it probabley has a short in the wires like a power connector gets in radar detectors that you have had for awhile. Wires are just strectched out and bent over time, and not making the needed connection anymore. :-( Hope this helps. |

Posted: Jun 4, 2004 00:58:14 Given how old this post is, I doubt anyone will see this reply. Regardless, the XP drivers also seem to work perfectly under Windows 2000 Professional. MUCH better than the bug-ridden third party driver I was using before. Thank you! |

Posted: Jul 5, 2004 19:45:55 I have a question, and I need help! I only use my tablet for drawing, and I never use the program which is provided. The tablet installed and everything was perfect. Once we've restarted the whole computer from scratch, it now won't install! It was perfect before, but now it says it needs the windows 98 CD (which it didn't need before, and we don't have one) So I'm really stumped! Please help me, I love to draw on the computer and now I can't. ~Erin |

Posted: Jul 7, 2004 18:41:44 · Edited by: Admin I'm trying to use this with Paint Shop Pro 7, but with little success. Despite clicking the "pressure sensitve tablet" options in the tool options within PSP, I'm not getting any variability in opacity, width or colour. Pressure sensitivity seemes to work in Photoshop, though, as lines will be thinker/ thinner depending on the pressure I put on the thing. And though I'd not bought this product here, any help would be appreciated. OH. And I use Win 98. |

Posted: Jul 23, 2004 23:17:40 For anyone having the problem described in the above two posts, what seems to work for me is exiting the program and re-entering with a stylus double press. This happens for me with both PSP and PS. I figure it's the programs getting confused between the stylus and the mouse. |

Posted: Aug 9, 2004 20:50:10 Finally got the drivers to work in windows XP. It appears the big problem is that XP tries to install the Jam Tablet under the human interface device section as just a generic device. You need to remove it from there, and make sure when you install the XP drivers, that it comes up under Mice and Other pointing devices as the KBGear Tabket. The driver should show up as coming from LCS Telegraphics. Please note this device will NOT work in Corel PhotoPaint 9, even with the updates. However, you are probably better off using it in Image Forge 3, which is completely free and has tons and tons of options. The Jam Studio works so well in Image Forge 3 it is scary to think I bought this product for $19.95 at a local Big Lots store. Image Forge 3 + Jam Studio = AWESOME!!!! |

Posted: Aug 9, 2004 21:02:07 Slight correction: Under Human Interface Devices in the Device Manager for XP. You should see one instance of the KB gear tablet as "USB Human Interface Device" However, if you see another instance of it, or the other instance shows up as HID of some sort then remove it. In other words... You should only see one instance of any form of a 'Human Interface Device' in Windows XP under the Device Manager setting *Human Interface Devices" Again, Image Forge 3 works just incredibly well with the Jam Studio Tablet, making it more than just a toy. *If you have trouble getting it to work correctly in Image Forge you may need to set the brush as a "Solid" object instead of a "Hollow" one. Also, under the Sketchboard Stdio icon in Device Manager you may want to try setting it to Right Mouse Click. |

Posted: Oct 30, 2004 17:37:11 i have a question about the jamstudio too. it works well for me ( i run XP). i have altered the WINTAB.INI file as stated earlier to make the side button into a LEFT MOUSE click. however, when i change the wintab file to that, i also have to depress the button to be able to draw. is there any way to KEEP the side button as a left click but just use the pen like a NORMAL pen (ie pressing down on the pad makes it work, not pressing down doesn't -- NOT having to use the button to make the pen function)? |

Posted: Dec 12, 2004 11:45:48 The serial port tablets Crayola Kids PC Drawing Tablet, Disney Sketchboard Studio, kidDraw, Genius Kids Designer, Wacky Kids Pad, Pablo and Jam Studio Digital Graphic Tablet work flawlesly with Virtual Tablet Manager, that can be downloaded from http://www.vtablet.com |

|
Posted: Dec 12, 2004 11:58:51 Crayola Kids PC, Disney Sketchboard, kidDraw, Genius Kids Designer, Wacky Kids Pad, Pablo and Jam Studio are OEM Summas, so in Virtual Tablet Manager select device type Genius-Kye(MM) or try SummaDraw, SummaPad Pressure, etc. One of them will work for your tablet model. |

Posted: Jul 3, 2005 16:04:11 After switching my tablet from a computer running on Win98 to XP, I was a bit puzzled by a few things. This thread has answered every question I've had, and my tablet's running as smoothly as the day I bought it! Thanks! |

Posted: Jul 20, 2005 07:17:23 I've got a Pablo graphics tablet from KidBoard, Inc., series KD-PC20, model PAB-PC15, FCC ID LTSPCMC-197, with both P/S 2 and serial connections running with a Win2k OS. I downloaded the vtablet software, and tried out most of the Genius and Summa devices, but can't seem to get it working correctly. If it does anything at all, it skips around the screen, clicking, right-clicking, dragging, etc completely at random, even when I hold the stylus steady. Any ideas? |

Posted: Aug 8, 2005 22:32:07 jam studio tablet--Here is the answer about XP drivers. Go to ( http://tekgems.com/dl/index.php?dir=.%2Finput-devices ) and download {jamstudio-tablet-win95-98-me-2000-xp} .Then extract the files to a folder on your C drive. Then click on {KBJAM } and extract files to the same folder.Plug in your tablet. Now go to controll panel and click on system/hardware/device manager. look for HUMAN INTERFACE DEVICES . Then click on update drivers and locate the folder where you extracted the windows xp drivers. After you installed the new drivers there will be a new jam icon in your control panel.I got my pen working with all the famous photo editing software.Photoshop, ulead photoimpact, corel draw, ect. It gets getting used to |

Posted: Aug 19, 2005 13:54:03 This is continued from my last comment:Jam studio tablet for xp.In device manager look for HUMAN INTERFACE DEVICES.There should be (USB HUMAN INTERFACE DEVICES)click on update and update from the folder you extracted (jamstudio-tablet-win95-98-me-2000-xp.zip)This tablet works like a expensive wacom tablet. If you notice that the pen is jumpy and extremely sensitive and starts writing when the pen is not touching the tablet. That means you didn't install the drivers correctly.Just follow my directions. When the drivers are installed correctly you will truely enjoy using the pen and tablet.JAM STUDIO TABLET WORKS GREATjampen777 jampen777 |

Posted: Feb 25, 2006 09:07:53 Can someone help me get mine working again? At first I was using mine on another pc which had Win98SE, no problems there....then I got a new PC with WinXP SP2. I couldnt get it to work, gave up for like half a year...a few days ago I deside to try again cause I found this fun site SketchSwap.com and I try different ways described on this site and all of sudden it works!!! But later I had to reinstall system onto a new harddrive and now I cant get it to work again. Im trying to get it to work so I can backup my whole system like it is only DVDs so I dont have to waste time installing it in 6 hours agian. Dont want to backup yet until I get this table working. Ive done the above but when I try to update HUMAN INTERFACE DEVICES it doesnt find anything where I extraced the files from the drivers. Ive also done it the other way where you install the drivers then press no to restart...then connect the tablet reintall and then it should really work...but right now all it does is crash my pc when I put pen to tablet. How do I fix this? Please help me get it working agian. This looks long... |

Posted: Feb 26, 2006 21:28:18 I think I figured it out for who ever is running XP. Im not 100% sure but after so many crashes then I do this and it freaking works so what else could it have been? I install the drivers while tablet connected then uninstall KBD from Add/Remove Programs. Then restart, and it should then work, thats how it worked for me. I tried every different way described on the site here and nothing was working, then I thought maybe KBD was part of the tablet and I uninstalled it and restarted...then boot up and it works!!!! |
