hey, I just purchased a jam studio tablet. I got everything to install fine, but then the barrel button only can have the settings as follow:
off
right click
double left click
Because of this, I dont know how I can use it in any drawing program, even the software that comes with it. Any help please?

You 'left mouse click' with down-pressure on the stylus. This can be adjusted in the control panel

hey,
the problem is that there isn't the left mouse click option when I go to adjust it in he control panel. So is there anything that I can do?

I came here browsing around and noticed that some cant get the regular left click configuration. Mine did this also and if you go into your mouse settings in control panel and switch the buttons to where the right button functions as the left, the pen works fine. You can always set it back when your not using it, thought it might be of some use to someone.

$16? I paid Au$60 on ebay . God you yanks have got it all!
Anyway mine worked ok for the first day, then it only worked when I held the left mouse button down.
After a few experiments I find it works ok if you press really hard and dont use the barrel button at all.
The barrel button is to change tools and even then you have to press really hard to keep the drop down menu engaged.
hope this helps

For a more sensitive "Left Button" (pen down on the pad) action find a file called WINTAB.INI and edit it with notepad, change the line Csr0NPBtnMarks=X X to Csr0NPBtnMarks=1 2

Still need to press too hard for my liking but it's better.

I finally got the JamStudio working. I'm running WinXP home edition. I downloaded the drivers from www*driverguide*com driver is called JamStudioTabletXPDriver. The following worked for me:Unplug the tablet fron the USB port. Extract the zipped drivers. Go to Control Panel/System/Hardware Device Manager. Click on human interface devices and uninstall the USB human interface device. Plug the tablet in-XP will detect the device and install generic XP drivers. Tablet will not work at this point. Go to the unzipped drivers folder and doubleclick on setup.exe. Drivers will install Windows will protest that the drivers not certified. Click ok and the install will complete. The tablet worked but it kept trying to auto left click on things. I opened the JamStudio applet in control panel and slightly changed the tip sensitivity which cured the auto clicking problem. Everythings working fine and I am quite impressed with my $15 tablet.

I have one that I bought for $20 Canadian and it works fine in XP with drivers I found here. It works in all kinds of programs too. One problem people may be having is that if you want to "paint" in Photoshop for example, start a new drawing then choose the "brush tool" then in your drawing, press really hard on the tablet with the pen, until you see it draw.

You don't need to use the button to draw, it's the pressure on the tip.

The only adjustment in the control panel adjusts how hard you have to press to get the tip to act as a left mouse button. I set it to the minimum. The tip is the left button that's why there is no choice for "Left Button" for the button on the side.

I find you have to press very hard for it to draw (I wish that was adjustable) maybe after it "breaks in" the pressure required will be less.

Another thing that might confuse people is that the tablet's drawing area is the whole screen, not just the size of your drawing. So it's a good idea to adjust the size of your drawing so that it's as big as possible but not so big that the drawing area is covered by tool windows.

Hope this helps those who get the pointer moving but can't get it to draw.

Welp, (I think) I figured out a workaround the dreaded limited mouse-click options in the SketchBoard Studio (Contol Panel settings).
Go into your WINDOWS directory and loacte WINTAB.INI.
Scroll down to the middle under the KIDBOARD section.
You should see the Csr0SysBtns heading and change its first two values to 0 1 (the rest should be zeros anyway) and restart your computer.
This should enable the normal left-button 'single' click option (as opposed to the Left button double-click & the backwards Right button-click options).

If for whatever reason you need to adjust any SketchBoard Studio settings in your Control Panel then you will need to re-edit your Wintab.ini and restart your computer to make this option work again!!!

Funny Story time - I got this thing last night as a gift from my cousin and guess what? No CD inside the box...no dirvers...nothing! Googled and found this forum and after reading a bit, it scared the hell out of me! D/l'ed the dirvers here and finally made this thing work after ignorantly plugging it into my mouse port instead of my keyboard...thank-god for the little manual ;)
Spent a few hours looking into what's what and found the wintab.ini (after fruitlessly searching the registry) and fiddled with it until I found this left button-click solution! It's works fine in both Paint and Photoshop so far!
All the best and hope this works for you too!
Happy SuperBowl Everyone!

Unfortunately, the spraycan and some of the other left-button options in Photoshop doesn't work as well...even with the left mouse button solution. Mind you it'll still work fine but they don't show and that's a driver issue since the buttons themselves got corrupted from my video card drivers a couple years ago...might need a newer version of Photoshop to get around this since newer versions of this driver isn't going to be cropping up anytime soon :oP

!IMPORTANT!
!IMPORTANT!

For those of you frustrated with the button options on the pen
ie: only double left click & single right click. to make the pen work & draw naturally.

Here's the only way I know to correct that.
Go into settings > control panel
choose the mouse option
change the button configuration to left-handed mouse.

This reverses all the driver settings and allows you to use the pen naturally... ie: clicking & holding the button to draw...

& to think, I was going to draw with the one hand & hold the mouse button with the other... golly beaver!

Hello fellow users, and TECH SUPPORT

I followed all of the guidelines found on this forum, and my tablet works fine. My only problem, however, is that I CANNOT GET MY PEN TO PERFORM THE LEFT CLICK FUNCTION. To me, this is crucial..for it is clearly needed in writing. Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I will return my tablet. Thankyou.

I just installed the Jamstudio in Windows XP and it works fine for $20. A few years ago this was Wacom quality, so it is good for everybody, except true professional digital artists who need lots of sensitivity and resolution. It works in Photoshop Elements 2 and probably any other program that uses a mouse. Many ask about left mouse button, well it works too: when you press down hard on the pen (stylus) it clicks like the left button. So to draw a line, press down on the pen, this way you are dragging a line, like a left button. To select something or close a window, I go to the button with the pen and press down on the pen, just like the left mouse button. The button on the barrel is the right mouse button or left double click. I use it as left double click to open programs. If pressing down on the pen is not working for you, go to the control panel>Sketchboard Studio and adjust the click pressure. Also, you can use it as a mouse in drawing programs, but to see the the pressure differences, make sure you enable tablet in your program and use brushes, not only the pencil.

Installing: if you already tried to install, disconnect everything and go to control panel>add remove programs. Remove KB Gear Tablet and restart your machine. Skip this step if you never tried to install.

Now download the Windows XP drivers:
http://tekgems.com/dl/input-peripheral/jamstudio-xp.zip
Unzip them. Double click setup.exe. After it is finished restart your machine. When it starts again connect the USB, but it still does not work. Now double click setup.exe again and it will finish installing the control applet. If it says it is not certified for Windows XP, ignore it and continue anyway. When it is finished it worked fine for me, but it was to sensitive, so go to control panel>Sketchboard Studio and adjust the click pressure up about 1/4 the way. I hope it works for you. If not, simply keep installing the drivers until it does, I tried for a couple hours.

Many wonder why no left click!
Well, the tip of the pen is the left click button. You press it down ...that's the your left click.

The pen is the same as a 2 buttons mouse. The tip of the pen is your left button.
I do like to set the button on the pen as left click...since it's much easier to control than the hard to control pen tip (the pressure thing!)

Here is what I do ...remember many mention about the ini file.
Csr0SysBtns=1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 .... etc
I set the first two # to 1
by setting the second # set to 1, the button on the pen is left click.
I found it is easy, when using the spray, barely touching the pad and use the pen's button as click while spraying.
Hope this make sense...think about your pen as your two button mouse.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the pen tip is also so set to left click (the 1st # is set to 1).
I don't see why, if anyone is interested to set the pen tip to no click then set the 1st # to 0.

Don't forget to reboot your computer after changing the wintab.ini file.
