Posted: May 17, 2003 09:56:53 Call it a 'toy' all you want, but I've had mine for roughly 3 years now (actually, mine is a Pablo pad, but it's the same thing made by KBgear just with a different brand name slapped on it), and have had only minor troubles. Yes, annoyances pop up occasionally, but for $20 bucks in comparison to 200+ for most others, I'm not going to complain. |

Posted: Jul 3, 2003 02:14:28 Just today mine is the winning bid on a Pablo graphics tablet on ebay. I only bid on it because the wacom products up for sale or bid on ebay and craig'slist are for mac only or are missing the pen. This one's from a special purchase from the factory and I guess this batch was the last batch because although they've been tested and work...they have neither the logo nor the tracing overlay...does anyone know what the tracing overlay is made of?...if it's just heavy plastic I can probably just buy a transparent placemat from the $1 store and cut it to size and shape...I'm using windows 98 right now so it looks like it should work fine for me. |

Posted: Jul 3, 2003 02:18:56 I read a list of reviews on epinions.com for the pablo(apparently the same as the jam studio) and anyone having problems with the mouse button are probably having the problem because touching the nib of the pen to the tablet is supposed to work like if you held down the left mouse button. Try double checking your settings(sometimes even with expensive software and hardware you have to do the opposite of what the manual says to do so hey at least you saved alot of money) |

Posted: Jul 3, 2003 02:50:09 It's after midnight and my thoughts are a bit muddled and I'm bored...I mentioned that I think the Pablo I just orderred off of ebay should work because I am using Windows 98...I'm using Win 98 because I still don't have my hardware configured just the way I want it...I'm considerring buying a new mobo and ddram...apparently if you upgrade any major parts you have to reactivate XP...I might would be able to afford new activation fees one or two times... but untill I have my puter just the way I want it I'd be wasting money on xp...I just don't want anyone thinking I'm trapped in the stone age or anything...The phrase it's just a toy keeps popping up about the Jam Studio...I agree it is a toy...but if you consider the things the majority of us use our home pc's for most of the time the computer itself is just a toy...a very expensive toy...hey I allways did like cheap toys the best...Jacks were way more fun than that overpriced, creepy looking Teddy Ruxpin...Cheer up folks...If push comes to shove you can have a garage sale...or better yet donate your Jam Studio to a local elementary school...kids can surprise you...maybe they'll find a use for it that you didn't think of...such as using it for an oblong rectangular frisbee...or hey they might even figure out which cord goes where...plus I was thinking back to the early eighties when I was in kindergarten and maybe just maybe the Jam Studio and it's kin require a heavy hand for a good reason...remember fat or rather Jumbo size Crayolas?...Little kids and even alot of big kids press really hard when they draw. Peace all |

Posted: Jul 6, 2003 03:01:38 I want to buy a wacom but they're so expensive...I'm going to make do with the pablo till I can save up for one(I'll probably have to settle for 4"x5"...has anyone here since purchased a wacom??? I'm sure they're much better since they are the industry leader...but I'm wonderring just how much better they are...is it like the difference between a volkswagon and a rolls royce?...plus I'm a little confused...I remember seeing wacoms for a little over a hundred dollars when these tablets came out for alot over a hundred bucks...why would someone with over a hundred dollars not just spend it on the best? |

Posted: Jul 10, 2003 20:55:32 I own the Pablo internet Edition 6 x 8 tablet & I can't get it to work with my computer. I have a Sony Vaio running Windows XP. I don't have a serial port on this computer so i must use the USB port to hook it up but I can't find a driver for the USB port. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Posted: Jul 15, 2003 22:19:14 Hi everyone. I finally received my Pablo from Ebay and at a little over $16.00 I'd say it's worth the trouble. I've been trying to convince my mother to buy a computer or at least some of the parts for one(I could build one without a cd-burner for way under $200.00) Mine has a cd-burner and cost just a little over $200.00 with s&h plus tax. I even bought a cd-labeling kit and several cd-r's and some software and still came in way under budget. That all sounds off topic right? Well it's not. You see my mother has carpal tunnel syndrome and at the same time is very heavy handed. I'm thinking that with one of these Pablos she could use the pen(i.e. stylus) and some handwriting recognition software(it's free to those with the appropriate disability/ies; she could forgoe both the keyboard and mouse that are so tiresome for her to use. Also I think I was right about the pen being fat...it's probably because the target audience for the Jam Studio and the Pablo was adolescents, and pre-teens, and the Disney tablet from KBGear was targeted towards young children including toddlers. I had some trouble getting my Pablo hooked up because since my tablet came from a factory closeout it came sans-instructions. however it did come with the right cord. I thought you just hook it up to the serial port and voila! I was wrong, but not completely wrong...that is to say I got it half right. You hook it up to the mouse then the serial port. What a relief. I have usb but mine came with what looks like just the serial port/ps2 combination cord/adapter. Anyway I found this site: http://the57.com/dl/pablo.htm#Pablo%20Installation%20Instructions full instructions for istalling via the serial and ps/2 ports plus drivers for windows 95/98/me/2000/and xp. By the way my cursor moves when my pen is just above the tablet as well. The secret(not a very impressive one) is to go ahead and place it on the tablet. The tablet is the equivelent of your viewing area on your monitor. Then if you want to have it work like a mouse holding the left button down just push down on the nib of the stylus while moving it. The drivers from the site I included in this posting work. Install the driver first then shut down and connect your tablet(rules may be different about shut down for usb&probably are because by it's very nature usb is supposed be connectable without shut-down. Anyway once you restart the computer plug and play kicks in and you're asked for where the files for the drivers are...so make sure you download them to My Documents and then create a new folder to unzip them to...It will make it much easier to browse for them at the appropriate times. I had trouble with explorer and i.e. explorer after the first restart when plug and play kicked in...the thing is I just restarted the computer to see what would happen and it cleared up...then I went to control panel>pablo and configured my button and sensitivity. I don't have xp yet...but I from what I read the xp driver sounds like an update. You should set a system restore point before installing it...that way if it turns out to be an update you can just install the 95/98/me drivers and software first (don't plug in your hardware yet!) Then install the update and restart and connect your hardware. Good Luck all and I'll keep an eye out for new Jam Studio drivers. By the way my name's Nolita P.S. The link is to a page that also has JamCam drivers if you know anyone who needs those. As Charlotte the Spider from `Charlotte's Web' would say, "Chin Up" |

Posted: Aug 1, 2003 01:46:33 Hello, Ive just bought pablo off the ebay for 20 bucks. as a mouse its ok, but i can not draw in ms paint for example, since it does not allow me to use a single left click , which would enable me to draw -drag a line anybody knows how to add a single left click in control panel? I use win2k and have only double-left and single right click available? thank you in advance, Damian |

|
Posted: Aug 1, 2003 01:57:01 I addition, I i cant drag and drop icons without the single left click, also cannot move sliders in internet exlorer and winword.. whoever wrote those drivers must be a complete retard or stoned to death, that he forgot to add single left click in the menu. what the hell was he thinking ? how strange... |
|
|
Posted: Aug 1, 2003 02:03:53 OK I figured out how to add single left click: 1. Change Mouse settings to Left Handed ( mouse icon in control panel) 2. Use single right click in Pablo settings... and it will work. Damian |

Posted: Jun 15, 2004 18:23:29 I just got my Pablo tablet in today. I have been trying to get it installed all day long (and I mean all day). I think I have tried just about every driver I could find. I run XP Home Edition and for some reason it is just not wanting to work. Every driver I have tried so far says that it is A)not compatible with XP or B)not digitally signed. Is it just my computer???? This is really frustrating, I have been waiting for a while to get this now I cant get it to work. Someone please help me. |

Posted: Jun 16, 2004 20:04:31 Well I got mine running ( I cheated...I just hooked it up to my older laptop that was running win 95). Still working on getting the hang of it. Does nayone else have trouble with the pointer shaking real bad? Mine moves slightly back and forth really fast like it is having a seziure or something (makes it sorta hard to draw that way) but oh well. I am sure i will get it figured out Looks like once I do i am sure to enjoy it tho. |

Posted: Jul 15, 2004 01:43:19 Hi all. I hava managed to get the Jam-Tablet working, but I wonder if anyone has had any luck using the barrel-button for a "single-click left mouse button" rather than the double-click it seems to only understand. I compose music, and this item would be a Godsend if only I could use the button to emulate a single left-mouse button. the only way I currently can do it is to use the actual left mouse button, but that is awkward. Thanks in advance Please post or send to me direct derek.darling~!@telus.net (remove the ~!) derekd |

Posted: Dec 12, 2004 11:45:03 The serial port tablets Crayola Kids PC Drawing Tablet, Disney Sketchboard Studio, kidDraw, Genius Kids Designer, Wacky Kids Pad, Pablo and Jam Studio Digital Graphic Tablet work flawlesly with Virtual Tablet Manager, that can be downloaded from http://www.vtablet.com |
|
|
Posted: Dec 12, 2004 11:59:02 Crayola Kids PC, Disney Sketchboard, kidDraw, Genius Kids Designer, Wacky Kids Pad, Pablo and Jam Studio are OEM Summas, so in Virtual Tablet Manager select device type Genius-Kye(MM) or try SummaDraw, SummaPad Pressure, etc. One of them will work for your tablet model. |

Posted: Apr 1, 2005 20:19:48 I've had my Pablo pad for over 3 years. It came with an Adobe Photoshop LE, which is has far more than Adobe Elements 2 also. I got Adobe PageMill 3, and while the JiffyWeb, Web Painter is for animation, my Pablo also work for Coral Draw 10, Coral Painter 7&8, Coral Photo-Paint 10, just as these 300.00 deluxe models that came out later while I was paying 79.95 for my Pablo. You have to have the KB Gear Interactive PC Driver which on my also me to use left or right hand. The Pablo KB Gear stamp has to appear to be opened just as any application on the control panel. |

Posted: May 19, 2005 14:41:32 I am still unable to install this on my laptop that runs Windows ME (although it did work on a friend's computer with Win 98). Any hints? The drivers on the websites aren't working for me. But I'm a computer moron, so I may have messed up somewhere. |

Posted: Dec 14, 2005 21:37:08 Pablo Graphic Tablet I downloaded the Pablo95.exe but the tablet won't draw anything into my paint program, Paint Shop Pro 7. The tablet red light is on, the Pablo icon is visible in the control panel and responds, and Control Panel-System Properties-Device manager shows KB Gear Serial Plug and Play Tablet and says the device is working properly. How do I get the tablet to draw? The pen is hard wired into the tablet and has only one button. Can you help or refer me to some source for information? I have Windows 98 on a IBM Thinkpad Jdelehanty1@aol.com |
