I just received my modem, and I can find any info/manuel on the PCTel modem. Where do I find the manual on the disc, for I need to find out how to set the series string for the distinct ring capablilities for my Venta Fax software. Jim

Yes, my phone has distinctive ring on it. I had it for over five years, operating my fax machine. I'm getting tired of all the FAX spam using up my paper, so I want to switch over to using my computer for the fax. That's why I purchased your modem and am using the Venta Fax software. It is suppose to operate on XP, under software control. Where do I find the manual on the board. Is it on the CD, because, I can't fomd it, and what series of commands do I need to operate the distinctive ring capabilities of the modem.

I looked at the INF file.

Under the DRING (Distinctive Ring?) section, I saw the following:

The modem would not respond unless you specifically installed a modem that was designed to respond to that command. So, you may need to use new drivers if the INF file in the CD does not have this type of code in the INF file. Please check. If you don't see it the CD-ROM, download new drivers for your OS using the link above.
