Posted: Nov 22, 2003 10:38:59 where/how can I get Windows XP driver software for Crystal CS4280 4 channel Sound card? |

Posted: Nov 22, 2003 10:39:29 My CD only says compatable with 95/98, ME, NT, etc. No XP driver. Is there a Crystal website that might have the updated CD or driver for XP? Thanks! |

Posted: Nov 22, 2003 10:39:51 Ok; find me a driver CD (or website for download) specifically that has a Windows XP (not Windows 2000, that works for sound but not the game port) driver for the Crystal CS4280 4 channel PCI sound card. |

Posted: Nov 22, 2003 10:43:35 After running your install setup, it said driver not successfully installed, so I removed. However, this seemed to "wake up" Windows and it then said new hardware detected (the Crystal sound card - for the 1st time) and stepped through the add new hardware process. I pointed it to your files at first and it probably used some of them (so I'll Paypal you $5 ASAP - I can't get Paypal to update my CC info), then it could not find a file from those you sent me, which was then found on the CD that came with the Crystal sound card. Initially I had disabled (in Bios) the built in sound card on my motherboard, but I did not uninstall any of these sound card drivers (mistake?). Windows proceeded to install sound and game port; I was then able to install my Thrustmaster racing wheel and calibrate it - all using control panel, add hardware, control devices (or something like that). Sound card still does not work right - just noise comes out, but game port/racing wheel IS working and I re-enabled the on-board sound card and it works (speakers hooked up to on board sound card). I may try to get the sound part of the CS4280 working, but as long as everything works the way I have it (game port from CS4280, sound from on-board sound card), and this is not "hurting" anything, I guess I'm good to go. Thanks! |

Posted: Nov 22, 2003 10:43:49 FYI - I noticed that after shutting off my PC and rebooting, that my on-board sound card was not working (even though it worked after the installation of Crystal CS4280 drivers, before shutdown). So to complete the below operation (i.e., the process to use the CS4280 sound card's 15 pin game port while using another sound card for sound because there are apparently no Windows XP sound drivers for the CS4280) you need to use Device Manager to disable the CS4280's .wdm driver file only (leave the game port driver enabled). This works! (we learn by doing..) |

Posted: Jul 29, 2004 18:58:51 I am having the same problem. I can hear a dull rumble or a sharp scratch. I have down loaded setup file and followed your procedure to no avail. It sort of worked once when I first installed the board and allowed it to auto install. I am running Windows XP. I am not using the game port. |

Posted: Jun 29, 2006 05:00:39 I've tried to access the 'dl' download to get the driver: http://tekgems.com/dl/ Click Audio Download Crystal_WDM_Audio_Codec XP Setup.zip for my CS4280 Crystal Soundfusion 3D PCI video card. Yet I get an error message saying 'forbidden' I don't have access to this location. I went to the home page and click on 'downloads' and get the same error. How can I get a copy of this driver to see if it'll resolve my video problems. I upgraded by eTower 400idx emachine from Win98 to WinXP (home). |
