Hi, where can I find drivers for this video card?

The description is here:

The driver CD comes with the video card. If you purchased the video card elsewhere, I am not certain where you would download it from.

If you really want the drivers, we can copy it from the CD and place it online.

Hey i am having a problem i went to the site and download the drivers, but they are coming up with a problem. Is it because i have WinXP Pro? Cuzz it would be really nice to get the drivers working so i can have dual monitors. Please help!

You're taking a real gamble with the S3 Savage IX. We get a lot of returns on these cards for system incompatibility issues. To find out what chipset your S3 video card is, read this:

http://www.s3graphics.com/Wins3id.exe
http://www.s3graphics.com/S3id.exe

Use Windows utility WinS3ID.EXE to help identify the chip on your board or system. Right click and "Save Target As" to your desktop. Double-click on the WinS3ID desktop icon. Write down the chip number and chip name for later reference. (If your legacy device was made before 1999, you may need to run the DOS utility S3ID.EXE from a Windows

The actual driver download links are here:
http://www.s3graphics.com/legacy.jsp

Chipid - 8C13
SSven - 5333
SSdev - 8C13
HW loc - PCI 02/03/00
Chip name - Savage/IX

That is what the Wins3id.exe told me and
then i ran the S3id.exe and i didnt know exacly what that did, do you think you could give me a link to the exact location of the Drivers for Windows XP Pro cuzz i just cant seem to find them on that site...lol

Thanks
Zach Tate

P.S. This is the error it gives me "The software you are installing for this hardware:
S3 Graphics Savage/IX

Has not passed Windows Logo testing to verifty its compatiblillity with Windows XP: [Tell me why this testing is important]

Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediaely or in the future. Microsoft strongly reconmmends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing." (may not be perfect typed it really fast)

From http://www.s3graphics.com/legacy.jsp:
"S3 Graphics will no longer provide drivers for new operating systems or any other support for these devices."

You can try saying yes to the 2000 drivers on XP and see what kind of results you get. As far as I know, there are no 8C13 specific drivers for the XP operating system.

this card is such a piece of crap.
i would kill whoever made it, that's how much it sucks. it doesn't even work on XP, all it does is crash and give me blue screens. I would rather be eaten alive then try unsuccessful to install this worthless crap again. if i knew who made it i would seriously kill them.

Hi, I think it is clear in the description that XP is not a supported operating system. You have no business using this video card in Windows XP.

Shabbir

I have a PIII which I just upgrade from windows ME to Windows 2K. Now the desktop doesn't spread across the whole screen and I only have 16 colors. I ran the Winseid.exe. Here is what it told me:
Chip Name Savage/IX w/MV
Chip ID 8C12
SSven: 1179
SSdev: 0001
Hwloc: AGP 01/00/00

Now what do I do????

The B...

You're running your card on standard VGA driver. Go download W2K driver from the link above.

Hey!
I am just looking for the Windows 2000 driver for this card. The S3 website doesn't work it seems.
Anyone with an idea.

I bought this card recently too and have XP, no luck. Are you guys saying I should just take this piece of junk back? After running WinS3ID I get the following:
Chip ID: 8C13
SSven: 5333
SSdev: 8C13
HW loc: PCI 00/08/00
Chip name: Savage/IX

I'm kind of annoyed because the CD with the drivers states that there is an XP version.

Yeah, definitely take it back. If you want an older brand that is more reliable, get a Matrox. They support their product thoroughly.

Anyone knows how to install the tvout utility for the s3 391 in WXP?

Thanks.

I have a HP Omnibook XE3/GC which has the mobile version onboard which has the utility for switching on the video-out. It's not that flash, but it works.
