hi, i just bought the packard bell remote from you and i have a problem with the winlirc software every time i want to press a button i need to angle it in a diffrent direction and press it at least six times if not more for it to get the signal which is very annoying and not effective - i tried activating the serial watcher
and when i press buttons there it works very good and responds very fast no matter what angle the remote is in and where i am in the room...

Please help me solve the problem
Thanks
DOR

Hi, what kind of system do you have?

Since the software "polls" the serial port, if you have a Pentium 200 or slower system, it will not work well.

It also sounds like you have an IRQ conflict with another device. Please go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, View, Resources by Type, IRQ. IRQ 3 and IRQ 4 are traditionally what is used for COM1 and COM2. If you have other devices using the same COM port, those devices will need to be re-assigned or disabled.

Thanks.

Hi, thanks for replying.
i have a pentium 4 1.7 ,256mb ram(machine fast enough)
i checked for IRQ conflicts and for what i've seen - there's none.
there are no other devices connected to the computer that might interrupt with the signal and none in the room.

as i said with "serial watcher" it works great (i don't know what those hex numbers mean but it shows them EVERY time i press a button in the remote. (btw i don't run SW and winlirc simultaneously.)

i have tried two remotes and they both worked fine with SW but winlirc is hardly getting any signal at all
what should i do?

thanks again
Dor

It might be bad hardware.
