Is there any way I can use the Packard Bell Fastmedia remote with a USB to Serial adapter? I can get signals with Raw Code but never the green light. If not, is it possible to exchange my remote toward the purchase of the USB based remote?

Sorry, I found my answer to this question elsewhere on the forum. Minus the inquiry about an exchange.

HI there,

I use my Packard Bell Remote for a long time with my old computer. Now changed into a new computer which
has no serial port but USB port. I bought a USB->Serial adaptor for it but Winlirc stops working
on my new computer. Here is the situations:

(1) Gray button light is on when I start Winlirc
(2) I can see some codes when I hit the "Raw Codes"
button in Winlirc

I have set my eps value up to 90s but still no help. And I am using "Prolific USB-To-Serial Comm Port (Com
4).

Please help.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

USB to Serial adapter will not work with Packard Bell Remote nor Creative Labs PC Remote. There is functionality lost during the conversion. Your best bet is to buy a USB PC Remote like Digital Keyspan.
