PC World - How to Buy Home Networking Products
I prefer Wireless Range Expanders over to PowerLine options. PowerLine requires at least two device to get a working setup. But a Range Expander can operate successfully with just one unit. Houses with old wiring are also susceptible to poor performance or non-performance of PowerLine devices. You try to create a PowerLine network in an old San Francisco Victorian and you will most likely fail. Wireless range expanders just offer more flexibility and reliance. From personal experience, I would stay away from refurbished DLink and refurbished LinkSys products. Many defective DLink & LinkSys products make it back to the market as "refurbished" even though they have never been tested.
