What kind of software is required to program/use it?, years ago I bought the packard bell from you as well but I stop using it when I got a new computer and it didn't have serial port
Tks

No software is required. It works out of the box with Windows XP Media Center Edition.

The product is designed for use in Windows MCE. It works in XP to some degree, but the button assignments don't correspond to the actual action, nor do all the buttons work in XP. Run Windows Media Player and you'll see some of the buttons work in Windows Media Player.

Is this item Infra red or RF?

Infrared. Radio Frequency would be much more expensive.

I was actually going to buy this but I wanted to make sure I could control my mouse with XP with this remote.

Hi, this works best as a remote control. If you want to use a mouse - a logitech wireless mouse would be your best bet. The distance for a mouse should be within six feet while a remote offers slightly greater distance.
