The heatsink retention module on my Dell Dimension 2350 is broken and needs to be replaced. The one that you are selling appears to be the right size but my module was fastened to the motherboard with 4 screws whereas your seems to have clips. If I were to purchase your module would I still be able to screw it to the motherboard? I would be grateful for your advice and assistance in this matter.

The plastic clips push in to the motherboard and stay in place. Plastic on metal do not interact well. If you insist on screws, I'd recommend you buy at least two retention modules or at the very least be careful of stripping.

Just a note regarding Clive's post, for anyone else who may have this question: Just remember to remove any metal screw standoffs between the case and the motherboard, or the plastic clips may not seat properly and the heat sink will not be in contact with the CPU.

The product is designed to work on any motherboard with a Socket 478 processor. We do not have enough information to go on to tell you either say since HP Media Center could many very different model of computer.

Please note that most all motherboards have a RETAINING pad under the motherboard that the Heat Sink Retaining Module screws screw into. When you remove the screws the RETAINING pad falls free from the motherboard. It is now sliding free between the motherboard and outer case.
You have to either remove the motherboard from the PC, or as I did, use toothpicks to line up the four RETAINING pad holes with the motherboard and carefully screw the Heat Sink Retaining Module screws in one at a time. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!
You can remove the plastic push pins from the new Heat Sink Retaining Module and use your screws.
If you use the plastic push pins, it is best to remove the motherboard from the PC so you can apply even pressure to the motherboard to avoid cracking it.
If this is to much to handle find someone that knows how to do this correctly.
I suggest buying several of these, they break easily and it saves on the shipping cost.

I've just bought one of these as a replacement. I'm sorry to sound ignorant, but can you please tell me how I can remove the plastic pins without breaking the unit? Is there a knack to doing this? I'd rather ask than break it!!
