Will this drive read 3.5 inch double density floppies
on a Mac running OS10.4? i.e the floppies with a single hole,

Yes. It will read 720KB or 1.44MB only on MacOS. The USB floppy drive WILL NOT read the proprietary SuperDrive floppy format (800KB or 1.6MB).
