The ethernet that came with my home computer recently died. I ordered this one from work (during my lunch hour, of course). Initially, I was apprehensive with the packaging and "Made in China" written in the back. But after I finished installing it, I couldn't believe how easy it was. It literally took me five minutes to get it installed. I took it out of the box, plugged it into my USB port. Windows goes through its detection phase. I select "CD-ROM", put the CD driver in the CD tray, and clicked Next. Windows found the driver a few seconds later. I just moved the ethernet cable from the dead ethernet jack to this new one and I was surfing the web again. In fact, I'm writing this review using my new USB to Ethernet adapter! :)
Does this work with Nintendo Wii? It looks the same as another one I saw that is compatible, but this one is a fourth of the price.

Unfortunately, this does not work with Nintendo Wii. We tested it on a Wii system and it failed to recognize. Please note that returns will not be accepted if your purpose is to attempt use on a Nintendo Wii system. The product works fine in a Windows PC system with a USB port. It does not work on Nintendo Wii.

To install this device, you must plug it in to your USB port first. When Windows looks for the drivers, point Windows to the CD-ROM. The drivers should install after it searches the CD-ROM driver. If the CD drivers are not for some reason, try this link: http://tekgems.com/dl/la-lc05.zip for a different set of drivers.

hello, I have an IBM thinkpad 600X laptop and would like to know if I can use it to connect to the net?is it compatible?
TekGems :

yes, as long as you have two things: 1) a USB port on the ThinkPad, 2) a supported operating system running on the thinkpad (Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP).

Is this device compatible with Windows Vista?
TekGems :
Posted 935 days ago
The device has not been tested in Vista at this time. Perhaps someone who owns the product and Vista can chime in at a later time. The drivers are designed to work up to Windows XP at this time.

The DM9601_ME folder inside the lc05.zip file is for both Windows 98 and Millenium (ME).

I'm wondering about Linux/BSD support; do you know what chipset is used in this device?
TekGems :

You can download the driver files and examine the contents. That usually will provide some clues.

It may be hard to find USB to Ethernet driver for Windows Server 2003. USB to Ethernet is primarily for consumer use.
